Is Global Climate Change Real?
Climate change has become one of the most pressing issues of our time. As temperatures rise and weather patterns become more extreme, people around the world are questioning if this phenomenon is real or not. The answer is a resounding “Yes!” Climate change is an undeniable, measurable process that is happening now.
Global Climate Change: The Undeniable Proof!
The proof of global climate change is abundant. According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), average global temperatures have risen by 1.62 degrees Fahrenheit since 1880. Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, and patterns of rain and snowfall are shifting, all of which can be attributed to global climate change.
Another strong indicator of climate change is droughts, floods and other extreme weather incidents on a global scale. Warming ocean waters have caused more frequent and intense hurricanes, floods and heat waves in areas where they previously didn’t occur. Sadly, as global temperatures continue to rise, weather-related natural disasters are only expected to get worse in the future.
Human Activities: Burning Fossil Fuels!
Furthermore, human activities are compounding the problem. Burning fossil fuels like oil, gas and coal releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which traps heat and further warms the Earth’s surface. This process has caused an average of 1.5 degrees Celsius of global warming over the past century.
The effects of climate change are already being felt around the world. Not only are extreme weather events becoming commonplace, but entire ecosystems are being upended. Melting glaciers and rising sea levels are causing habitats to be destroyed, species to become extinct and weather patterns to become erratic.
The science behind climate change is irrefutable. The world’s leading scientific organizations, such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), agree that global climate change is real and that human-caused emissions are the primary cause. Therefore, it is imperative that governments, businesses and individuals take steps to reduce our emissions and mitigate the potentially catastrophic impact of global climate change.
